Exactly. Part of being a _responsible_ Ubuntu list is knowing when
Ubuntu is not the right tool for the job. Ubuntu is not a poor-man's
Mac replacement any more than it is a poor-man's Windows replacement.
What your daughter will get will be a disappointing Mac ripoff (no
iTunes, no MS Office, no iPhoto, wrong behaviour that is neither
Windows-like nor Mac-like, low quality hardware) and that will be her
and her friends' impression of Ubuntu.
