Yes they are. I recently compared a Dell laptop to a similarly
specced Dell, and the Mac was twice the price.

There is nothing special about the quality of Macs.
They are all made in Taiwan and China, using the
same manufacturers and components as other big
firms like Asus and others.

Twice the price, sometimes less. But they are far more expensive.
