You will need to reinstall the Windows bootloader, too.
From the XP CD this was done by booting into the recovery console and
running
fixboot
I *think* it's a clicky option in Vista's CD, but I'm not certain. If
not, you'll have to find out what the Vista equivalent of fixboot is.
