That really is not such a great idea.  Yes, putting an interface in
interfaces prevents NM from touching that Interface, but then NM goes
ahead and makes connections on any other interfaces it can find and
trashes your routing tables / DNS settings as it goes..

NM is great for 99% of desktop users who need a no hassle zero
configuration / just works client based network.  But if you have the
kind of setup where you'll be using the interfaces file, it's usually
best (IMNSHO) to simply remove or disable NM.  Hybrids are much more
likely to lead to grief.
