I have not tried virtualisation at all, but spontaneously I would say
that I would run Windows under Ubuntu. The reason is that I would use
Ubuntu for most of the time, and it should be faster to run Ubuntu
directly than under Windows. So the OS you use most often should be
running and the other one could run virtually.
Well, that's my opinion anyway.

Thanks for the input. I'm currently installing Ubuntu 64-bit Server. I
caught NoOps comment about the repo, which I'll add as well.
Looks like it should be a good box - I've been living with 2 old 256Mb boxes
for about 12 years running Ubuntu since V4, and Gentoo V1.
I finally get my own screamer...
