I don't know about User Agent Switcher, but IE Tab does more than just report
itself as IE.

It actually runs the Microsoft web control (a DLL that's part of IE) in a tab
on Firefox. Thus, you actually ARE using IE, just in a Firefox frame. And as
such, other Firefox add-ins, like dejaclick, won't work with it.

I use it with Firefox on Windows computers to connect with my company's sites,
which require IE (and use a lot of .NET). It won't install on any Linux
system, and would be useless if it did, since the IE DLL won't run there.

Microsoft browsers use nonstandard technologies that other browsers don't
support. I can't see much sense in modifying a browser to pretend it's
another type, when it can't handle output intended (only) for that type.
