Yes, Indeed. I work with a friend who wrote the POS and backoffice
apps from scratch using Java.
The features:
1. Support POS thin/fat client mode. Works with any flavour of Linux.
Slax, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.
2. Support USB client boot for emergency mode/convenient.
3. High availability on the backoffice system using Linux-ha.
4. Data is protected using DRBD (net mirroring).
5. Works with barcode scanner / manual input.
6. Invoice printing. Customized report, etc.
7. Endless possibility :)
It's being used on one of the biggest supermarket in town. You can
imagine our nervousness and excitement when they use it on the 1st day
and also was the busiest festive month. Fortunately, no incident at
all.
