Any luck with Canon iP2600 printer?

FUD. I use a Pixma iP5300. The problem  I had was that samba had grabbed 
the printer, so CUPS couldn't get hold of it.

There are tons of Canon drivers provided with the Ubuntu installation.

And get yourself a new "guru".
