Cannot see Samsung u900 as Mass Storage device

I am connecting via USB, not bluetooth.

On my laptop, I use bluetooth to transfer files from the computer to
the phone in Jaunty with KDE 4.2.2 and 4.2.3, so I know at least that
works.
