Hello Arun,

Although I never used it, I tried now to sign in to the webmail chat
from Yahoo and it worked.

You probably need to install the Flash player plugin for Firefox. And
disable any "ad blocker" and "flash blocker" addons you might have (at
least for yahoo.com).

The site itself should prompt you to install whatever plugins you may
need, and then ask for a restart (just a Firefox restart). It should
direct you to adobe's website to download the flash plugin.

As Tony suggested, though, you would probably prefer a standalone app
to use the Yahoo instant messaging protocol with (such as Pidgin or
Kopete).
