    I have not heard of such a problem. It appears that Gnome came up 
with a setup to skip the sign-in screen which is VERY odd.

    If you can't do what you want with the screen after you come up and 
then hold control and Alt and tap F1 which drops you back to a prompt, I 
suggest you d/l the normal 9.04 LiveCD and install a version with Gnome 
and then it will all work.
