more 9.04 wireless (IPV6?) woes

Running kubuntu 9.04.
I have one machine that is still not able to connect to my wireless network
with WPA-PSK security, even after I've replaced the NetworkManager Plasmoid
with wicd.
I just remembered that several *buntu versions ago on this same hardware I
needed to kill IPV6 to get a reliable connection, so I wonder whether this
problem has reappeared.
The directions for killing IPV6 on the wiki are for 8.04 and earlier.
Does anyone know how to kill IPV6 in 9.04?
Paul
