As it was already pointed out, "the Best MTA" is a function of too many
local variables...
One point that was somewhat important to me when choosing Exim over
Postfix, was the fact that Exim has a capability of talking to spam and
malware scanners from within its own process. For Postfix, it's amavis
daemon, which would have to be listening on port 25 in order to
intercept SMTP, do its work and then possibly pass it to Postfix. The
latter then of course have to be listening on some other port. At least
this was the case a couple of years ago...
