Do you mean Ubuntu?

Which chat program package did you install?  Xchat is a really good IRC
chat program.

Oh just give it some time... after all you didn't return your pc because
you didn't understand Windows did you?  Learning a new Operating System
does have a learning curve, but the benefits are worth the effort.
