I would like to report that my Standard Operating Practice for repairing
corrupted MS Office documents is to open them with OpenOffice 3.0 and
saving them back to their original MS Office format under a different
name.
I have to do this at least once per week (I'm supporting a couple of
thousand MS Office users) and my success rate so far is over 90%.
"Special" formatting is retained, even VBA code still works.
I have even considered to offer my repairing services on a commercial base
for people outside my company. :-)
I admit that I don't use a Linux application. I use the Windows version of
OpenOffice.
