9.04 doesn't see a reliable wireless card

I suppose you got a new kernel but not the restricted modules for that 
kernel. That at least happened to me on thursday. When booting with the 
old kernel ath0 was back, the new restricted modules where not available 
thursday but I could instal them on saturday and after that I got ath0 
with the new kernel.
