[Jaunty] Launching similar apps from panel icons

I've noticed since upgrading to Jaunty (from Hardy) that the panel icons
no longer properly launch multiple applications properly. For example;

1. I have two icons for SeaMonkey, one for SM 2.0b1pre and one for SM
1.1.6. If I am running SM 2.0b1pre
(/home/<user>/SeaMonkey2/seamonkey/seamonkey -mail -browser) and click
the SM 1.1.6 icon (/home/<user>/seamonkey/seamonkey), a new browser
window is opened for SM 2.0b1pre, not SM 1.1.6. However, If I use
nautilus, or use the cli to launch SM 1.1.6 will come up. I have the
full paths for the applications in the panel icons.

2. Same thing now happens with OpenOffice.org; I have an icon for OOo
3.1.0 (/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice), and one for 3.2(dev). If I
have OOo 3.1.0 open and click the icon for OOo 3.2
(/opt/ooo-dev3/program/soffice), I get another window of OOo 3.1 *not* a
launch of OOo 3.2. Again, full paths to the apps are in the icon
commands, and again, if the second similar app is launched from nautilus
or the cli, the second app comes up just fine.

3. Same for Thunderbird (I have a dev version as well).

Before wandering off to launchpad land... is anyone else experiencing
the same?
