How can I make my scanner permissions permanent?

As I said in my previous message, I plugged in a device which is a
scanner only, and there is no User Privilege that says "scanner," even
after a reboot. If you are using 9.04, I'm assuming that privilege was
created by something else. (An upgrade or something.)

I do see a saned group on my system, and my user is a part of it, so I
am guessing they consolidated some privileges in 9.04? (I didn't
notice if there was a saned group before I plugged in the scanner.)
