This is my machine with 384MiB
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 371 366 4 0 3 83
-/+ buffers/cache: 279 91
Swap: 1035 248 786
...and swappines set to 10. I've been trying different figures and this does seem to lessen sluggish behavior.
