Logitech USB mic and Jaunty AMD64

I have a Logitech USB mic which I want to get working in Sound Recorder.  It 
is visible to the system and Audacity can see it; tho' as I cannot make head 
nor tail of Audacity I don't know whether it works in it.  I need it to be 
visible to Sound Recorder.

I have fiddled with gnome-alsamixer, to no avail.

I have googled, but can find nothing specifically about Jaunty, only about 
older versions of Ubuntu.  I have serached www.Ubuntu.com, with the same 
result.
