JEOS LAMP Server - 8.04LTS or 9.10?

Hi,

I am about to setup a new server under VMware server and want to look at 
using the Ubuntu JEOS server(up till now I have only used Centos)..

The question is whether to go with 8.04LTS or the newer 9.10 so any 
advice would be useful.. For the most part I am setting up a fairly 
standard LAMP server..

Apart from the advantage of the LTS version being supported for a longer 
time with updates what other advantages/disadvantages are there to using 
either of these versions as a production server?

Is it possible to upgrade from one LTS version to another without having 
to cover all the intermediate versions?

Where can I check the software package versions included in each of the 
different server releases (specifically Apache, PHP and MySQL verions)?

When is the next LTS version due for release?
