In that case log into Gmail's web interface and click create a filter
(next to the search box).
Enter email address or text you want to filter on.
Click next.
Select "Delete It"
Click "create filter"

Thunderbird shouldn't need to do any filtering as Gmail with have
removed annoying eails before they even get to Thunderbird.
