How to map the key above the Enter key to send ctl-H?

I have been a unix user for decades and have a set of profile files, including .xmodmaprc, etc. for setting up new accounts to my preferences.

But Ubuntu is so cool and modern, I thought I'd try it using the modern, mouse-oriented way for a change.

But even though there are 3 (!) dialogs for configuring the keyboard (keyboard, keyboard shortcuts, and keyboard layout), I can't figure out how to change the backspace key back to a backspace key rather than being a delete key.

As stated above, I know how to do it using X. I guess I'm just curious how people can decide to improve on X but think it's not necessary to support that basic capability... even xkeycaps supported that.
