Ubuntu has defined release cycles and often better support for
non-DFSG-compliant software. Debian sometimes has better support for
software not in the Ubuntu main repository.

I would check where I would get the software versions and support for
the software I need and how important it is to know exactly the time
when I can/should upgrade to a newer version. Maybe the availability of
commercial support is important too.

On my private computers I used Debian since 1997 but switched to
Ubuntu when the Sarge release took to much time to get ready. IMHO the
differences aren't that big for an experienced admin.
