printers for UBUNTU?

OK then.
I agree, Linux supports (nearly) any printer. It specifically supports 
printers that are not "host-based" and that follow common standards, 
like using Postscript or HP/GL.

When it comes to non standard printers (i.e. not Postscript, not HP/GL, 
you can either use HP, which are VERY EASY to configure and also support 
fax and scan on most models OTB.

Or you might use any other model that has support for Linux. And then 
you will quickly find that there are huge differences.

Again, the HP Linux support effort is second to none. And I think they 
deserve the praise and they also deserve you to buy from them in order 
to motivate other brands to come up with just the same level of Linux 
support.
