He said clamscan "doesn't say what or where they are located".
Regardless of whether -v is added, that's not true for me.  With -v it
reports on every file, without it only reports on the infected.  In
either case, infected files are listed.

But without -r , it won't search recursively, which doesn't make much
sense for searching /.
