Is there a reason why you can't keep this in the original thread?
If you are concerned with all of the dependencies, file a bug via
launchpad. You've already been provided information on how to do that.
I have installed kcalc on Gnome (both Hardy and Intrepid) without issue.
Can't say that I find it worth doing so - I wasn't impressed so I
uninstalled it immediately after installing & testing.
