It was indeed a support issue.  We talked about what the problem actually
was, and how to work around it, and what you need to do if you want to keep
the previous behaviour after upgrading to 9.04.  Sure that's been well
intertwined with general grousing, but you seem to be the one who wants to
force it into a non-support discussion.
