It may take more than your effort to stop some people from being snarky,
it has been my experience that some people come here (and to all lists and
forums) specifically to be snarky. ;-)

You may want to consider putting a form for archive search up, to make it
a bit easier for newbies. Something similar to this but I am not a website
coder, someone else, or you, can probably refine this (I haven't even
tested it):

If you do this, I'd suggest you also give a brief hint about how to choose
effective keywords.
