One question you might want to ask yourself is whether your current
machine can have its memory expanded, and by how much. If 2 gigs are
the maximum RAM your box can hold (or if it is not practical to
upgrade, because you have to tear out the existing RAM chips and
install higher-capacity ones) then you might as well stick to a 32 bit
install, but otherwise, install 64 bit, because you can grow into it.
It would be easier IMHO to add more RAM than to reinstall 64 bit from
a 32 bit system when it came to add more RAM.
