What kernel are you using? I'm not sure, but if you're using desktop
kernels, maybe (_maybe_) those are not compiled with LFS (large file
support). I don't have a .config to check right now. Take a look at
/boot/config*

Perhaps you'll like to check server kernels or compile you're own
kernels with LFS.

If you're using server kernels, then I have no idea.
