It might be something related to the hard drive(s). I'm not really
sure this will fix the problem, but you can try, when you get that
colorful menu asking you whether you want to "Try Ubuntu...", "Install
Ubuntu" etc., to do the following:
Press F6 (for "other options"); you will get a line reading something like:
file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz
quiet splash --
Now, go to the end of the line and add "all_generic_ide" at the end,
right after the two dashes, with no spaces. It should look similar to
this:
file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.gz
quiet splash --all_generic_ide
And now press enter to boot with this option. Hopefully it will work.
