Ok, so much for that.  What is the output of "sudo aptitude install brasero"(or whatever the file is called in your verson) without the quotes of course. If no errors are reported try the command with the -f option also and report any errors. You might also try:

Sudo dpkg --configure -a

OR, if you upgraded from intrepid to jaunty then see this:
