I know others have hinted at some bug that could be the root cause of of
your problem. On a related note, could you post the output of the
following command in a terminal (~$ denotes the prompt):
~$ groups

This command will list the groups of which you are a member. In my case,
I have:
~$ groups
hs adm dialout cdrom plugdev lpadmin admin sambashare

This shows I am a member of 'cdrom' group, which is necessary to burn
cdroms I suppose. In your case if the command does not list 'cdrom' as
well, that is the first thing you need to fix (you need to allow
yourself 'to use cdroms' from Preferences->Administration->Users dialog).

Please reply to this list only. I read this list on its corresponding
newsgroup on Replies sent to my email address are just
filtered to a folder in my mailbox and get periodically deleted without
ever having been read.
