I am a Google supporter. I use gmail to IMAP my mail to me and so do
MANY on this list. Google spends money on keeping Gmail working. They
make money on the ads they show you on Gmail. But with IMAP we avoid all
the ads and Google says in public that this is a "beta" project.

IMAP fails from time to time because we are all using it and it gets
too busy. Then Google adds another computer somewhere and it gets good
again.
