This isn't the way I'd do it, but if you want to do that, then tell
your firewall to block rather than drop - that's the timeout.
something like adzapper is a better solution I think...
All you need to know about Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty -> gconftool -s --type
bool /apps/update-notifier/auto_launch false
