I _did_ say I don't think so.  I'm sure I read that, but not sure where.  I 
very much doubt you _can_ guarantee a file to be contiguous "regardless of 
file system".

The last time I read up on swap files, the creator of the page I was reading 
said that you could use them anywhere you used swap partitions - so I asked 
about hibernation, he tried it, and it broke :-(  But that was probably two 
years ago - I really can't see a reason why it shouldn't be _possible_ but 
it would need you to be able to specify how to find the swap file in the 
initial boot process.
