Problems with environmental settings and emacs

Hi

I use emacs a lot and have put its icon on the upper panel for wuick 
launching emacs. Since last week, using this icon fails to read my 
environmental variables. I use a script 'mkrc' in my ~/scripts/ 
directory for compiling a program which I use within ECB and this 
stopped working.

However is I launch emacs from a terminal, then everything works fine.

Any solutions?
