Calculating swap size as 2 X RAM is really old-fashioned, you should
never need anywhere near 8G.  It's a waste of disk space.

IMHO, if you ever use up even 1G of swap, there is something seriously
wrong (unless you're running with the bare minimum of RAM).

Try "cat /proc/swaps" and see how much of that you are really using.
