I'll be damned (undoubtedly)! In all the searching and reading I've done
on this subject I never ran across the fact that mutt encryption works
out of the box. Everything I found required modifying ~/.muttrc.
After reading /usr/share/doc/mutt/README.Debian I finally ran across a
site that talked about the "p" command to invoke gpg.
All things come to he who reads. Thanks for the pointer.
