thanks.
when i pull up the Catalyst Control Center under "Display Manager,"
under "Multi-Display", there is a box
called "Display Configuration" with a pulldown option menu set to
"Single (Independent display)" The only other choice is "unknown"
which renders identical desktops on both monitors.
when i enable "xinerama" there is only one window manager, but
two X pointers. when the pointer passes to the right of the
left monitor, the pointer remains at the right edge, while
control passes to a pointer on the right monitor. windows can be
partially dragged from the left monitor to the right, and appears
properly rendered, however, cannot be dragged entirely to the
right monitor.
i suspect some of this may be ATI or catalyst problems. all of
my previous systems have been nvidia, which generally have worked
effortlessly out of the box.
maybe the open source driver works better for dual monitor setups?
thanks,
