Are you using 9.04 (jaunty) or 8.04 (hardy)?
Either way, you can easily remove the CDrom:
System|Administration|Software Sources|Ubuntu Software|Installable from
CD-ROM/DVD|untick. Same if you have anything the 'Third-Party Sofware'
tab with 'Cdrom'.
