Thank you Steve (and  Chris Mohler <cr33dog at gmail.com>, Mohamad Faizul <
mypiju at gmail.com>)  re-pointing to  ubuntu.media.mit.edu mirror (I'm on east
coast US)and upgrades now take seconds. Complete list seems to be in
Synaptic front end, very cool
