How important is the data?  

Add the/a connectors/extensions to the hdd before freezing, these will
hit the dew point before the mass of the hdd does.  Can-o-air will dry
them.  When I have done this, it is on a POS system, JIC, for the
reasons Cyber points out.  There is an inherit risk.  So I ask,
