Read both, made the changes, but doesn't work; nothing in the file, boot. Only a message saying:
(Nothing has been logged yet.)
/var/log/boot (END)
There is something mentioned in the last link about "upstarter" being the cause.
If in fact it does work, something else must be done for /var/log/boot to actually get the boot messages logged to it. I certainly would like to know what it is as I've made the changes noted in the links a long time ago soon after Ubuntu disabled boot messages from logging. Ray, let us know if it worked for you without changing the "NO" to "Yes".
IIM, I'm using Intrepid 64 bit on a dual core AMD CPU.
