Logitech USB keyboard fails in Jaunty! - please help

You might want to try the -14 kernel as it made quite a few USB fixes.
Enable the 'Proposed' repository and update to -14 to see if that makes
any difference. Note: you should be at -13 anyway due to security upgrades:

It looks as if xorg is selecting the wrong keyboard type... unless
Logitec is outsourcing to BTC Taiwan[1]. Does the keyboard also show up
as 'BTC Multimedia USB Keyboard' in Windows, or does it show as a
Logitec keyboard?

With the keyboard plugged in Have a look at:

$ dmesg |grep input
and
$ lsusb
