I have installed 9.04 and 9.04 remix.  With both I have not been able to get
the mic working in either distribution.  it works with dell's version of
8.04, which uses FAT (may not have anything to do with it).  Otherwise both
9.04's work well.  The remix has a very cool interface!

ubuntu.com has downloading and installation instructions.  You can dual boot
with whatever OS you have now.
