IDE sounds shot. If you are not seeing the SATA then there is ONE instance
that the jumper will need to be set. Check for your mfg specs on this to
be sure.
As you are looking at the back (connectors view) you see.

If the MB does not detect the newer 300mb/s sata drives then a jumper is
used to force the drive to use 150 mb/s older technology. I just went
through this on a new system <3mo old. This was the reason. In my case it
was a Seagate drive and the jumper was the last two pins on the right. Go
figure. :)
Sounds like you went through the steps to TS the IDE drive and the clicking
sound confirms (to me) that the drive is shot. :/
