Spanish keyboard

Thanks for the info but that didn't work. The keyboard I have has different keys on it. They don't work with your settings.

I set my keyboard with the command

$ setxkbmap us intl

No conozco el código para teclado hispano.
No tengo la mínima idea, pero, con us intl puedo teclear todas las 
marcas necesarias (¡¿ñéçôü, etc).  Uso el teclado us intl, porque tecleo 
en cuatro idiomas (en, fr, es, pt).

Sugiero que miras la página man de setxkbmap.
$ man setxkbmap

This can also be set by altering /etc/X11/Xorg.conf
