I'm not sure if you can reply/send from addresses based on what folder
or to-address is involved (and I'd be interested to hear if there is a
way to do that). But when replying to a message, Evolution will select
the account to reply from based on which account the original message
was sent *to*. So if someone sends me a message at "fred at nurk.com", if I
click any of the "reply" options the sender account will be the
"fred at nurk.com". I find this very useful.
Evolutions sending options are pretty weak generally though; they do
cover the basics, but there are LOT of smarts and tweaks that would
make the mailer a great deal better. For example, I GPG sign all my
emails, but have found that Outlook Express users cannot read signed
emails. It would be great to be able to mark address book entries with
recipient-specific signing and encryption options - so that I don't sign
stuff to people I know can't read it, but also to make sure that when
emailing business-related material I don't forget to encrypt stuff.
Similarly it would be great to see options such as "encrypt replies if
the original was encrypted".
Even something as basic as an indication in the message list that
messages are encrypted, signed etc would be useful.
Sigh - fact is, the perfect mailer has yet to be written.
